Overview
The state announced the award winners of a $12 million procurement of mental health services for Florida’s first responders and their families. In December of 2021, the First Lady announced $12 million in funding to go to implementing or expanding behavioral health services, such as peer-to-peer supports, throughout the state. These services will connect first responders to a provider or fellow first responder who is trained to provide referrals, information, and counseling.

The First Responder Behavioral Health Access Program (BHAP) Toolkit marks a significant milestone to support the mental health and well-being of Florida’s first responders. Developed in partnership with the Florida A & M University 2nd Alarm Project and the UCF RESTORES program, the Toolkit is a research-informed resource enabling first responder agencies to proactively support the mental well-being of personnel.
